Roof turbine vent is good for Canada?

My parents are redoing their roof and the roofer offered us a free wind turbine went.
-Will the snow blows thru the vent? During high snow falls?
-Is wind turbine ventilation system is good for Calgary, Canada where in the winter there is so much snow and fast moving wind?
-Is there any down side to a wind turbine roof vent? Any problems during high winds or high snow fall?

I need the answers as soon as possible because they already installing the shingles on the roof.

THANK YOU in advance.
Hi steve w,
Thank you for the reply. I just need to know that in Canada with all the snow we get here, the roof turbine is a good idea or not. We have consulted a structural engineer as well as a builder before we fix our roof all together. But I would like to have regular home owner’s experience with roof turbines.

Venting has to be taken in as a whole, considering the whole house, it’s construction, insulation, and what other vents will be in place. So the roof turbine is neither good nor bad, it is a tool.
A new house needs different venting than an old house, due to design issues etc.
You would really need to have an expert in home heating and ventilation come check out what you have. Make sure they are familiar with how the whole process works, not just a handy-man who has put some in. You need an expert trained in this area.
cheers eh.
